This colourful treescape uses a combination of pointillism and mosaic techniques. The composition is made of almost 500 glass pieces including multi-coloured squares, irregular geometric cuts and pulled glass stringers. The lush foliage is created in 4 - 5 layers. Each layer is created, fired and then the next layer is added. The process of building up this highly textured surface must be done with extra care to minimize tensions between the different layers of glass as the glass expands and contracts during firing.
