This design began with a client's request to create a piece to remind her daughter of her roots and celebrate that child's newfound independence in a new home in another city. It began as a pencil sketched a complex root system and then evolved to include elements of a delicate butterfly wing. This made-to-order, one-of-a-kind panel is part of a limited series. It was created by taking a contemporary approach to mosaic using hand-cut sheet glass and black glass powder and introducing the fusing of crushed and fused glass instead of tile and grout.
